Google Chrome question - Suffering From Elation
A Survivor's Tale
Google Chrome question
I'm a big fan of bookmark bars, where I delete all text so I can squeeze all my favourite websites in visually, identifying them by Favicon alone. These days I use Google Chrome, and I have a question: is there a way to put vertical dividers inbetween icons on the bookmark bar? I used to do this in IE, or Firefox, or one of the old browsers, and it surprises me that Chrome doesn't have this functionality. Of course if I didn't insist on putting like twenty things up there it wouldn't be a problem, but I like doing things visually.

In stark contrast, there are only three icons on the desktop of my little writing laptop. And my Start menu is a study in minimalism. I like my machines to be TOOLS. Dammit Jim, I'm an artist, not a computer geek!

Aside from that, not much going on at the moment. I finished my antibiotics, yay! My leg seeeems to be okay... knock on wood. Unfortunately the yogurt didn't save me this time... but let's not go there. D: Upshot, once I've got that little complication cleared up, it's back on the horse treadmill for me! Oh Jetts, I've missed you.

I loaned the first couple of books of 'Clan of the Cave Bear' to Rosa, because she loves trashy stuff and fanfiction, and that basically sums up that series. Ayla is SUCH a Mary-Sue. I first read the books when I was about twelve. By golly there's a lot of sex!

What else. Um, I've been having one of those weeks (so far) when little things go wrong - I sit under a leak on the bus, spill coffee on my bag, get yelled at by a bus driver, run late, forget things, drop things, crash my work computer, etc etc. But today I had a mighty good mocha, and I think that signalled a turnaround in my fortunes.

Joe introduced me to Evernote (and he was introduced by hammond in turn, go word of mouth!) and I've been transferring all my story notes and research over. And can I just say, it's freaking amazing. I'm having a left-brain orgasm.

Still no van. Holiday soon though!

Let me know how you find Evernote. I currently used Google Notebook but that apparently is going to go (Google needs to cut things) and Evernote has been recommended by many places as a good replacement. There's even a few apps for Android I can use to access it

So far I'm finding it absolutely wonderful, especially for storing research for my story. You can copy-paste (or 'clip' with a one-touch button) Wikipedia articles, complete with images and formatting, into this program. It has a brilliant search function AND tagging, the latter of which is particularly invaluable to me. The layout is intuitive, the program is fast, all files are stored simultaneously online and offline, and it's compatible with the iPhone too, or any Windows phone (not relevant to me, but it may be to you?)

I couldn't be happier with it. :)

Ohhh Clan of the Cavebear was a favourite of mine when I was 12 as well! :D Haha, I remember the sex and the trash.. ah, such a good series. It must be something of a rite-of-passage for pre-pubescent girls?

Looking at Evernote as I'm a little OCD about these things as well, and it looks nifty. Indeed, word of mouth rocks!

Also, I pity you on the whole nastiness due to the antibiotics. Diflucan is easy and they have it in pill form - works really really fast. ♥

Coincidentally that's what I wound up getting, before seeing this comment! And yeah, the speed of it is stunning, I feel almost 100% today. :) Technology has moved forward since last time I faced this little, ah, issue... I remember last time the solution came in the form of a soft little egg filled with liquid, to be inserted right before bedtime... I remember I was still awake when it 'popped' and boy was that a strange feeling. XP

I have fond memories of being twelve and left alone with the last 50 pages of Valley of the Horses. >_>

Heeheehee. I can't help but wonder how my youthful expectations of sex were influenced by those books. ;)

Workaround: Create a web page whose favicon is a vertical bar, then bookmark that site and use that as a separator.

heeeey, what dates are you coming down? I think I've tried asking joe but he doesn't know (surprise, surprise!) hehe. Just so I can let my housemates know and make sure I'm free! :D

Joe is fail! We will be down nighttime Friday the 29th of May. Can't check what time yet 'cos the tickets are on my corkboard at home but I'll let you know. We'll be in Melbs from then through to Tuesday morning (June 2), then in Tassie for a week, then we'll be back in Melbs in the afternoon the NEXT Tuesday (June 9th) until we fly home that Saturday night.

We actually haven't figured out accomodation yet, Joe confidently assures me he knows "heaps of people we can stay with" in Melbs but something tells me he hasn't actually asked them yet. ;P

haha... yes joe isn't exactly the most organise person. I have a diary and this year I have found a deeop love for organisation and lists! haha!

This actually works out well...kind of :P Saturday 30/05 & sunday 31/05 me, lucy & Joel are going to the Triple J one night stand which is a free concert for all ages, all day saturday. You're both welcome to come for the day (we have accomodation for the night but I'm not sure how big or how many people are staying with us :P) While you're down you have confirmed accomodation at my house, of course free to come & go as you please! You can have my bungalow while your staying :) I think that's pretty much it!

I want to borrow the clan of the cave bear books after. =) Seems like everyone in here (female) has read them when they were 12-13. ^_^

Also, yes. Yogurt didn't save me either. =( I spent a good portion of last night ranting under my breath about it.

They're good fun - the first book isn't bad, but parts of it, and ALL of the second, are like a mixture of bad, euphemism-filled softcore porn combined with the world's biggest Mary Sue. This chick who lives in caveman times is raised by neanderthals, turns out to be better at hunting than all the men even though it's forbidden for girls to do that, gets a 'speshul' totem, and later throughout the series invents new weapons, horse riding, sewing, etc etc. :D

Oh yes, and of course you can borrow! Rosa's passing them onto Katie as she finishes, as soon as I get them back from the latter I'll pass 'em on to you. :)
