I saw Star Trek again...
...and I think I'm in love with Bones. :( Oh noes. Why do I always like the weird ones. Joe and I were pretty stoked when we found out the actor was also Crazy Eyebrows Guy in Lord of the Rings.

Also, it was better seeing it the second time around, because the first time around every time Kirk appeared on screen I saw/heard him as Zapf Brannigan (particularly hilarious on the 'Bullshit!' line) and couldn't stop giggling.

Catching up with Suse (and maybe Hammond?) tonight for Indian foods, hooray! Hammond and Adders also came over the other night and made delicious fajitas for all! Then they helped us give worming tablets to the cats. It was a very wriggly, pointy, bitey experience.

Sarah Grey was around last night, and after I got over feeling a bit blah from the antibiotics we had a really nice chilled-out night of watching Green Wing, which as it turns out is also one of her favourite shows. We're onto the final Christmas special now.

Also I discovered total LOVE for Amazon.co.uk. An order from the US site can take up to two months to get here. Orders from the UK site? Four freaking DAYS. STANDARD. I imagine if I'd chosen the expedited shipping option, a hand would have sprouted from my monitor and thrust my DVDs into my face. I'm now the proud owner of Red Dwarf seasons 1-3 and 'Threads', a UK film from the eighties which most fans of post-apocalyptic film should be familiar with. Then I posted my shipping speed revelation to brisneyland and was promptly given links to some even more awesome sites: http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/ and http://www.booko.com.au. The former is like Amazon but with cheaper prices and FREE worldwide shipping, and the latter is a price-comparison site for Australians that actually works. This is terrible, you guys. Terrible. Now it's even easier for me to make impulse book purchases online.

Also I've been researching extrasolar planets again. I'm still jonesing for science to discover an earthlike, earth-SIZED planet within the Goldilocks zone. They're getting close, but the best candidate they've found so far is frickin' huge and would likely have some pretty hardcore gravity. Also, I'm getting very excited about Saturn's moon Enceladus, which is as likely a candidate for a life-supporting ice-crusted ocean as Jupiter's moon Europa. Apparently planetary bodies whose names begin with 'E' have the market cornered on evolution.

There's life out there, Jim, but not as we know it.

My coworkers are deliberately playing bad 80's music. As much as I whinge about being stuck in the nine-to-fiver, I really do love this place sometimes.

Dude, I'm with you. Bones is a sexy bitch. Those other girls can keep their Kirks and Spocks - just give me Bones! :D

God yes. I don't know what it is about sarcastic men but they get me every time. I think it's that I tend to read it as a sign of humor and intelligence, both of which I find extremely attractive.

Sadly, my experience with sarcastic men in real life tells me that it is not ALWAYS a reliable indicator of either humor OR intelligence. ;)

But yeah. Bones. Yum. Perhaps it's just my stately age of 27 talking, but I no longer find really young-looking actors (like that bloody awful Zac Efron) attractive at all... a few lines on the face, a bit of hairiness, a personality worn around the edges with life experience... now THAT is hot.

(I also have a bit of a crush on the dad in Supernatural.)

Yes yes and more yes. To everything you've said.

Bones was totally my favorite in the original series, so I definitely understand. His sarcasm is charming.

I kept thinking about the Kirk/Zapp thing the first time I watched it. That and the Spock/Kif parallels. XD

It was really just an awesome movie. I think Simon Pegg's Scotty was my favorite.

I suspect you're going to need something beyond Hubble to really look for those smaller planets in the life-zone. Still, I wouldn't mind some actually behing found as it'd give us way more motivation to move out. BTW, if you're looking for a good series of sf novels about going "out there", I can recommend the following series; The Looking-Glass War (which sets up a *lot* of the background), Vorpal Blade, Manxome Foe, and The Claws That Catch. You've got someone who writes good adventure sf, albeit of a military flavor, combined with someone with enough science background to really make it both plausible and interesting.

re: giving tablets to cats. EEK! Pingu is on antibiotics at the moment because she hurt her toe... lucky she is a very laid back cat or I think I would've lost a finger by now! hehehe.

I may have purchased 4 Discworld books to meet me in Tasmania after seeing book depository... >.>

Also, sorry about tonight. I just wasn't feeling really up for people. See you in a few weeks!

No worries, gorgeous boy - we'll be down in a couple weeks anyway for funtimes, and I had a weekend rather like that myself. I was meant to do stuff on Sat night but just conked out and did some writing instead. :) Hope Tas is everything you dreamed of AND MORE.

If I had a penis, Book Depository would have totally given me an erection. (TMI?) :D

Bones has always been my favorite character. My favorite line (from the old movies) is: 'You know you really piss me off, Jim.' FTW
