Sawyer's true motivation, revealed. 9_9

I had a great weekend; celebrated Joe's mum's birthday at Southbank with lots of wine on Friday night, shot some zombies with Joey and JB at the Elysium on Saturday evening, went to a party at Sarah Grey's place on Saturday night, and on Sunday afternoon Joey and I went to Toowong Cemetery to take photographs. I haven't checked mine out yet, must get around to that!

During the week we had Sarah Grey over again one night, and the power in the house failed - the transformer up on the pole had blown and we had to call the power company. We sat on the front steps with torches, eating ice blocks and talking while the power guys did their thing. After they left we stayed out there a while longer, and listened to some incredibly drunk guy a few houses down singing 'New York, New York' at the top of his lungs, and giggled a lot.

Went to the movies last night to see 'Knowing', which was surprisingly good (though I'm not so keen on the ending), had some amazing effects (a couple of very visceral incidents featuring mass-transportation-gone-wrong) and starred a Nicholas Cage who was NOT as annoying as I'd feared. If you like your sci fi it's worth a look.

Last night Mark, Rosa and I all got our rejection slips from 'One Book, Many Brisbanes' too - it was what we'd expected, being newbs with zero training and all, but I still had a great time taking part. Better still, opening the letter gave me a great opportunity to zing Joe with an April Fools joke. I don't usually do April Fools (most of the jokes people pull aren't particularly clever) but I very rarely get to zing Joe and I couldn't pass it up. :)

Work's busy. I'm in the painting phase of a new game so I've got plenty to do, hence the lack of updates.

Joe gave me two early birthday presents last night! One was an old Doctor Who paperback featuring the fourth Doctor, and one was the amazing Wednesday cat shirt I've been lusting after ever since Kate Beaton (www.harkavagrant.com) released it. I'm wearing it right now. Love!

This weekend we're going to Supanova on Saturday with Damo, Mark and Rosa, and we're going to the farm on Sunday to look at vans with Joe's dad. We're just about at our savings target, KRudd's stimulus (if it goes through) will push us over the line with cash to spare. We're already pretty sure we've found the van we want. Guess what, you guys: it's a VW. :D

Heh, I'm so not a cat person but that made me giggle. :D

Interesting to hear your take on Knowing - Marc Fennell gave a pretty harsh review on his last podcast saying Nic had all of the animation of a dead tree. :|
He did say, however, that the effects were pretty amazing, although the plot had swiss cheese like holes. I may still torrent it, although I doubt it will get us to the cinema.

Can we see some of the cemetary pics' once you've looked them over? I think Hayden and I will be doing some body painting and doing a shoot amongst the tomb-stones on Friday afternoon, after I've finished class. We've picked out some beautiful gothic wings to paint, and I have my new black thigh-highs with red ribbon to break in! ;D
The results may be a little too risque for LJ, but we'll see..

What did you write about for the book submission? I'd never heard of it, but looking at the info' it looks like a great anthology.

If I took any good 'uns, I'll upload 'em! :) Have fun on your cemetery shoot! It's a wonderful place to visit, so peaceful.

I wrote a story about nasty neighbors and christmas beetles. :)
