A Survivor's Tale
Possums and tiiiiired
B'aww, it's a Day of Fail for me! Managed to leave my DS at home, broke my iPod charger, phone nearly out of power, sleep debt still not entirely paid back, wanted to go to gym after work and forgot to pack my shorts... blah.

Yesterday Joe and I both took the day off work - we'd had yet another late night on Tuesday night, about the fifth in a row, and our sleep debt finally caught up with us. We slept 'til midday and were still tired. We had a relatively early night last night and I'm STILL tired. o_o Tired enough to forget / stuff up all the things in the first paragraph. Nevertheless, staying out late on Tuesday was totally worth it. We'd forgotten it was St Paddy's Day and the streets were full of idiots, but after my pump class we met up with rosequoll and kelvintroy, grabbed some dinner at Pancake Manor (I had a chicken caesar salad which was very nice, but the coffee there sucked!) and then the four of us walked to the Botanical Garden with a bag of marshmallows and cruised around until we found a roving pack of hungry possums. These were the particularly tame ones and they walked right up to us and pawed at our legs looking for treats. They'd eat from your hand, sit in your lap - Rose even picked one up by his tail. He was annoyed, but the marshmallows convinced him to stick around.

Brisbane public transport being what it is, Joe and I were stuck waiting an hour for a bus home, and by the time we got back it was almost one in the morning, adding further to our sleep debt. Which brings me back to yesterday.

I think I'm overloading my schedule too much. With pole and socialising and learning French and work I feel as though I'm overloaded and need to cut back somewhere. I want to start by cutting back on some wasted leisure time. Sitting around watching The IT Crowd with Joe is great fun but I haven't had time to write lately. I think I can cut back on TV time without cutting back on 'couples time'. Likewise, I think next term at the pole place I'll continue taking pump class but not start a new pole dancing lesson - I'm just not that into dancing of any kind and prefer the fitness angle, which is better-served by the pump class.

The gym, I'll continue with - it's right next to work, dead convenient, a good use of time. I've got my iPod so I can do French at the same time. As for writing, yeah, I'm going to have to dig into my leisure time for that.

I might cut out unnecessary socialising too - I don't mean things like hanging out with Rose and Kelvin, or parties with my work friends or adventures with Hammond - more things like this weekend's brisneyland meetup. Why try to meet new people when I'm already stretched thin finding time for the people I have right now?

So yeah. Must slow the pace a bit for a while. I think the new exercise regime is taking it out of me, I'll feel better once I get used to it.

Oh alright, when you put it that way. ;) I'll be there. Plus Hammond is on his knees begging me in the comment below. Haha, on his knees. *cue bad sex joke*

Haha, I'm so glad you came along in the end. You're experiencing the polar opposite to my life at the moment - I have too much time and many many social-urges to be sated since leaving all of my friends in Melbourne.

The few close mates Hayden and I had in Brissy' have mostly systematically jumped ship in the last few months, leaving us both a little starved for interactions of the friendly kind.

Hope semi-regular Brisneyland outings won't be *too* much of a drain on your stupendously busy life!!! You sound like super-woman. Seriously, how do you manage to do everything and still update your journal so regularly? x__x;

The simplest answer is that I have a very laid-back job. Some of my most relaxing moments are spent clicking away here at work. :) But I can see my way to more Brisneyland meetings, for sure.

If I were a super-woman I could juggle housework, laundry and dieting as well - those things are often the first to slide! D:

Please come on the weekend! Everyone is bailing; you don't need to make friends with people just meet them

OK, I'll come. Diz pretty much guilted me into it by accident anyway. ^_^ What time is it again?
