OMFG seals!!

Seal swim is BOOKED! Also, Damo might be joining us because it's his birthday that weekend and he is Sad and Alone, poor thing. Bad enough that he has to go through life being Tall and having pants that only come halfway up his bottom.

So it's just going to be Joe and I doing the actual seal swim part, as Hammond and Adders have this crazy idea that the dogs of the sea are going to maul us and they wish to have no part in the carnage. The swim sounds crazy awesome - we're only in the water with the seals for 15 minutes but we also get a seal kiss and a backstage tour to see how the seals are housed and cared for, and we each get a free photo too. I can't wait! I have to buy a new swimsuit though, as I left mine at one of the parental houses when I was last on the Sunny Coast.

Aaaahhhhh seals!!1!111

Also I reduced the amount I'm paying on my mortgage for now. Still paying more than I have to, still ahead, but I figure if I'm aiming to enjoy life I may as well start by setting aside some savings for this travel business. The land will take care of itself; paying it off at MAXIMUM SPEED is no longer necessary.

Finally: last night I began to fulfill the terms of the third item on my Secret List of New Years Resolutions (which is becoming rapidly less secret) when I wrote over 2300 words of the novel. I don't hate these words. The trick was to start in the middle... I kept starting at the beginning, and then freaking out because I felt the opening was never strong enough, and going back and rewriting it again and again. This was not conducive to writing the rest of the novel. Certainly the opening is one of the most important parts. As such, I think it's better that I write it when the book is mostly done, when I'm comfortable with the characters, the pacing and the tone of the entire story.

Now, back to the day job. Paintpaintpaint.
