The sky smiles on us - Suffering From Elation
A Survivor's Tale
The sky smiles on us
Here in the land downunder we got a nice astronomical phenomenon last night: the sky smiled at us. Jupiter and Venus aligned to form the eyes, and a crescent moon drifted up underneath them to make a great big shiny smile. Apparently the same phenomenon was seen in the northern hemisphere, only you guys got it upside down and received a sadface instead.

A few million mortgaged Australian families are smiling right now too - the Reserve Bank of Australia just announced another interest rate cut, a full 1% this time. For me, this couldn't have come at a better time; my repayments on the block of land are going further, and between my equity there and the increased First Home Owners Grant, buying a unit at Kings Beach is looking very plausible right now.

Got to finish my final tweaks on the story today. It's due Monday at the latest but I'm planning to hand it in at the City Library on Thursday night.

This Friday is D-Day for asking my boss about telecommuting a few days a week next year.

If I can pull this off, everything will change.

Interestingly enough, here in Cali the sky was frowning on us. The moon aligned with the planets formed a distinctive ":(" instead of the ":)" you guys saw.

Its probably some sort of profound cosmic social commentary I haven't quite caught onto yet.

Hooray!!!! Interest rate cuts!!!! Excellent Christmas/New YEars/Valentines day present (apparently it takes up to two repayment cycles to kick in so I am covering all my bases here).

All the best with asking the boss about telecommuting - I will cross all my fingers and toes for you :)

Oh no! Seumas and I were very keen to see the smile but we got all caught up in the crafting of the Christmas tree (photos to come) and the season finale of Rome we forgot.

Now the smile has made me sad... ;p

I noticed that last night on my way home! How very bright they were. It didn't look like a sadface to me, though, but the stars were below the moon and off to the right side. It was very pretty.
