OK, so instead of hitting the cafe, I hit my Friends List. I'd seen a few of you post this already, but hadn't watched it yet. Today it turned up on Hammond's journal, and he only reposts videos if they're very much worth watching. This one is.

Regardless of who you are or where you stand, if you're reading these words, I hope you'll watch the video. Do it as a personal favour, perhaps. This man condenses everything I've felt and said on the issue over the years into five very powerful minutes. The video is streamed. It's quiet. It won't take more than a few moments of your time. Like Hammond, I try not to repost videos unless they're worth watching too, and this one is.

I know I'm only another small voice, unable to make a marked difference on my own, but there are hundreds of thousands of us small voices, and more and more of us are saying the same things. Our grandchildren are going to be amazed that it took us so long.

NOW for the cafe. :)

That was well worded and passionately recited. Unfortunately it's hard enough to be stubbornly religious these days, and all they've got is a holier-than-thou mentality to make them an elite. This in itself is hypocritical as well, but if the religious nuts (and I will call them nuts) so much as contemplate the issue, then either outcome leads to hypocrisy and discredit. Since when has Christianity been about exclusivity? Since when have you had to be born a certain way to be Christian? Christianity is founded on the principle than anybody can participate, and that's exactly why it's the megalomaniac it is today--it was easy for anybody to be accepted. I'd say about 60% of the Christians out there are only practicing for looks, as a facade to keep in God's (and their neighbors') graces, club. While I was researching what the Bible had to say on friendship a few weeks ago, I came across a number of passages that were non-sequitur, such as "Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you" –Jesus; (Jn. 15: 14). Jesus seems to have changed his mind of quite a lot over the last 2,000 years anyhow. I am rather saddened to think that more than half the residents of California were in favor of prop 8, and California is host to Gay Bay (San Francisco, not Sydney).

A lot of the time Olberman is just a foil to right wing pundits and little more (his "worst person" thing is lame and gimmicky as fuck), but unlike them he's capable of rising above and stabbing into the moral meat of the matter sometimes. Therefore, he's better.
