The new LJ userinfo page is pretty cool - look for the starry Beta Test link to switch yours on. Mine tells me that this journal contains 2,123 entries and has received 20,674 comments. Way to go, journal!

We had Sarah Grey over last night and showed her the one episode of New Who she hasn't seen yet - the Madame De Pompadour episode, "The Girl in the Fireplace", which is the second-saddest episode New Who has to offer, and one of the best. Rachel will be interested to know that it was written by Steven Moffatt, who wrote the 'Press Gang' series, and - I just discovered this, to my delight - developed and wrote 'Coupling' as well. Talented fella! I can't wait to see New Who with him at the helm, it's going to be awesome.

Oh, and he also wrote the script for the upcoming Tintin film. Everything this guy touches turns to gold!

In not-so-related news about another awesome writer, Terry Pratchett has this to say about his new novel, 'Nation', due on October 1st:

"I don't think I've ever worked so hard on a book...

Nation was born several years ago... About four months later, when I hadn't even scheduled the book, Indonesia was struck by the most recent tsunami, and I thought: There will be a time for Nation, but it's not now. The story still cooked itself through, at the back of my mind, while I waited a few years.

After that disaster, I saw footage of people celebrating because the wave, which had flattened their whole village, had miraculously left their new mosque standing. But that seemed to me to be not much of a miracle — one that flattens flimsy huts and fails to disturb a solid-looking house of worship. Surely the miracle of a caring god would have razed his holy temple but left every little house intact? What had in reality taken place was the opposite of a miracle, wasn't it? The trouble is, we call these things acts of God...

Is this the right kind of topic for a young adult book? Probably none better, I thought."

Hehe, what's the bet that the loonies in America will try to ban it?

Good, more publicity for the book. I welcome their efforts. ;)

Looking forward to "Nation"!

You've always been able to tell those things; they're under "more" down the bottom of the old userinfo page.

Re: Looking forward to "Nation"!

Yeah, but this makes it dead obvious for lazy people like me. ^__^

For some reason, I'm now wondering what a collaboration between Steven Moffat and Peter Serafinowicz (Look Around You, Hot Fuzz, The Peter Serafinowicz Show, etc) might be like.. ^_^

Reminds me, Pterry's going to be in SL on Oct 9 (or thereabouts; I'd need to check, and I'm feeling tired and lazy. Even a bunny has the right to that =:) - could be quite amusing.
