Saturday was an exceptionally beautiful day, brightly sunny, warm and with a brisk breeze. Joey, Damo and I got some red wine and a bunch of classy deli snacks - soft Brie cheese rolled in ash for a nutty flavour (NOM!!), homemade water crackers, and dips - and trundled down to the nature strip in Kenmore toting mismatched wineglasses. We lay in the sun for a couple of hours, snacked, and talked and talked and talked.

It was good.

Sunday night was excellent too; we spent the evening at rosequoll's place. Aside from her usual cats she's currently fostering FOUR gorgeous part-oriental KITTENS, and they skittered about on spindly legs, pouncing and rolling and nomming. Aaaaaaahhhh kittens! If that wasn't fun enough, we also got to pet a baby snake, feed a possum, scritch and feed a magpie (the warbly "nomnomnom" sound it made as it ate mealworms was priceless) and check out a number of fascinating fish, turtles and reptiles. We also watched Rose feed a very friendly, blindingly colourful rescue lorikeet. Aauuughsocute. There was also lots of geeking out with Rose, Stephen and Daniel when Joey and I discovered that we are not the only ones who dream of someday building a ballpit in our future home. ;)

Guess what DIDN'T happen over the weekend? The TV delivery. Surprise surprise. When 9am rolls around I'm going to call the guy and give him an earful. I've been patient and polite for over a month and a half, but he didn't even have the grace to call one of our mobiles and tell us he wouldn't be able to make it, even when I'd called him THAT MORNING to check. By the way, the TV isn't fixed - he just decided it wasn't worth it.

Happily, the first thing that pops up now when you Google his business name is my rant against him. That's just the beginning. If I don't get my TV back TONIGHT, PLUS a refund of our deposit (which, until Saturday's non-event, I'd planned to let go) I'll be complaining to the ombudsman, hopping on brisvegas to post a very sharply-worded expose on how this guy has screwed over myself, my coworkers and my flatmate in the past, and finding every Brisbane-based forum I can and posting the complaint there too.

Then I'm going to listen to "Comfortably Numb" until I calm down (what would I do without Pink Floyd?), because that fat, incompetent slob doesn't deserve to take up more of my headspace or my emotional energy than absolutely necessary. Yuck. Thinking about him makes my brain feel slimy. D:

FYI - http://www.pjsmprints.com/ is the site for the various discworld bits and pieces. They do take forever to deliver but they will deliver.
