Hello Indy, Goodbye Fridge - Suffering From Elation
A Survivor's Tale
Hello Indy, Goodbye Fridge
Last night I saw Indiana Jones with Joey, plus with JB and Katie from work, and (mostly by accident) bumped into a few of the old AFK crowd too. The movie was better than I expected! It's not groundbreaking or anything but it's lots of silly, action-y fun, I never got bored, and the testing-range incident near the beginning of the film (you'll know it when you see it) was WAY up my alley. Hell yeah!

I've now sold off all my excess furniture except the washing machine, which I'll list on Ebay this weekend. The microwave and fridge got picked up last night; of course, we have a second fridge in the house so there's no inconvenience to anyone for the remaining week before the move.

Due to the van being Definitely Fucked, we're spending this weekend packing, and doing the move all in one day next Saturday with the help of a hire truck or ute... haven't decided on which vehicle yet. The ute is only half the price but means we'll have to make six or so trips instead of one. I don't know enough about fuel efficiency to do the math on that, but at some point, wouldn't the savings of hiring a ute would be absorbed by the additional fuel costs of running it for so much longer?

I'll be spending this evening and tomorrow morning taking apart the sold-off furniture that various buyers will pick up during the day on Saturday. My computer will be disassembled and remain that way until the move.

On Saturday night we're taking a break to go to Greg and Elizabeth's place for a little Eurovision get-together.

TGIF! This week has been long and stressful.

Yeah, I kinda expected to - I think my main emotional reaction to the movie was relief. "Hey, this doesn't suck!"

The "ute?" Can you elaborate? I'm curious because I attended the University of Utah and was a proud Utah Ute.

In Australia, we use the term 'ute' (short for 'utility') to refer to tray-backed trucks such as this: http://www.autoclub.com.au/uploaded_images/holden-ss-thunder-ute-2006-743724.jpg

And we use 'truck' to refer to closed-back trucks. :)

Go the truck, going back and forth again and again and again just sucks. Also don't forget most rentals have a daily 100km allocation and going over costs about 20c per km IIRC.

Also I have two ratchet tie downs that you could borrow for the move. Help stop everything shifting as you drive.

Wait, how did you bump into the AFK crowd and miss me? :P

I ran into them when they were just arriving, about 40 minutes before the movie. :) Joe and I had to split off to go out the front and wait for my work mates to get there.
