On the market / off the market
The work meeting was postponed 'til Tuesday, but it's not looking good! It's reasonably safe to say I'm back on the job market.

In dating, however, I'm officially off the market - Joe and I are back together. Which, y'know... anyone with eyes who has seen us in person for the last couple of weeks probably could have guessed, but I thought I should save confusion, so consider this your 'press release'. :) Those of you I love dearly got messages from me already. And then there was the Facebook update. Oh, the painfully technological world we live in...

We've both changed a lot. I won't speak for Joe (other than to deepen my voice and say: "I'm Joe Ford, and I smell!") but on my end the absence of my old fears is the defining factor that allowed this to happen. It's hard to be afraid when the worst happened and you survived it and came to realise you'd be okay, no matter what. I plan to carry that newfound knowledge with me for the rest of my life.

Today we're having Greg and Elizabeth D and the other new-gaming-regulars over for more geekery, with the addition of Hammond and Adders, and fun will be had by all! The bags of Doritos on the table sit there in silent testament to the fact. They lie in wait, patiently, ready to unleash their cheesy goodness upon us all.

Last night was a banquet of Turkish food at a Southbank restaurant with Joey, Hammond, Adders, Kelly and Karen. The six of us click well as a group and we had so much fun that we extended the night into a rainforest walk, and then to ice cream, and then back to my place to sprawl all over my bed and play Killer Bunnies (which is a card game, you sleazes) and Pictionary. We didn't finish 'til 1am.

I've applied for three jobs already, and am impatiently waiting for Monday so I can do a followup call for one.

Life is good. :)

I agree that the 6 of us have a good dynamic. Also, any combination of the 6 seems to work well in smaller groups too.

I like the fact that there's 3 boys, 3 girls, straight and not-so-straight representatives, Germans :P, an Asian, crazy people, stubborn people, level-headed people (this probably applies only to Karen), a decade range age-span and a really wide variety of life experience... but still general congruity.

I like the fact that last night, our seating somehow sorted itself into Boys and Girls, and then in order of hair colour. I like it even more that we noticed this.

I think it's the variety of experience and orientation and personality that makes it work, really. It sets up dozens of unique, fascinating dynamics, no two relationships in this circle are really the same, when you think about it. :)

Haha, it's even worse when you realised that half of us dog-piled Joe last night. PERFECTLY INNOCENTLY. Well, I can't speak for Joe, actually. 9_9

Blelizabeth! Hee. Mini holiday is going to rock so very much. :)

I must say I met the news of you and Joe with a total lack of surprise. The previous LJ posts covering your increased time together certainly hinted at it.

Also any preferences in what type of work you are looking for? People who "have a clue" seem to be in short supply at the moment so there is a good chance you won't stay unemployed for long.

I am phone-phobic, so I'm definitely trying to avoid anything where I need to use the phone more than a bare minimum. My current(ish) job, I had to call between 4 - 15 overseas people per night and that was more than enough; I bucked up and accepted it due to the fact that I was pushed up into a higher salary bracket, so that was worth a little nightly discomfort. But true phone support? No way.

I'd love something working exclusively through emails and chats again, but I'm not sure how commonplace those jobs are...

If need be I'm prepared to step back into the creative fields too - graphic design, etc.

I'd rather avoid retail and any kind of work where 'having a clue' is optional... I DO have a clue, you get paid better for having a clue, and I always wind up depressed in 'clue-less' jobs.

I hope that doesn't sound choosy. I'm thinking at age 25, with the work experience I have these days, I should be starting to stand firm on certain conditions and wage levels instead of settling for anything out of desperation.
